Seasonal Cafe Chef

seasonal cafe chef

An exciting opportunity to join the friendly team at the Iford Manor Café & Kitchen as Seasonal Cafe Chef, based on the beautiful Iford Manor Estate, just outside of Bath. Being a well established and ever-expanding family-owned business, means that we are now searching for a Café Chef to join our friendly team for the summer season.

Our multi-award-winning Head Chef, Matt Briddon has held a Michelin star in his own right, was ranked 11th in the Knorr Chef of the Year 2022 competition and has numerous television and media credits.

The right applicant will be an enthusiastic and passionate all-rounder whose duties will consist of prepping and cooking a small savoury menu for our café, including pizzas, breakfast and lunch items. You will also make pastries, cakes and biscuits and assist with the production of our in-house sourdough bread which is used in both the café and restaurant.

It goes without saying that you will take pride in keeping your section clean and tidy during the day as well as taking responsibility for shutting it down after service. We have a 5* Hygiene rating, so our standards are very high.

All aspects of cafe cakes, traybakes, pastries and bread will be undertaken, and you will be encouraged to express yourself through your baking – from the humble loaf to more specialist cakes – all created using the oven in your bakery section, which is set within the wider kitchen. The savoury lunch selection for the café will include pizzas (we have a pizza oven), fresh seasonal salads and sandwiches. Everything is made from scratch at Iford from top produce grown or reared on the estate, with the rest sourced from the best quality local suppliers.

The hours will usually be 9am – close, working Wednesday to Sunday, meaning that you will have Mondays and Tuesdays off each week. We are also open Bank Holiday Mondays. This is a seasonal role starting mid-March and finishing at the end of September. There is absolutely no evening work as the café is a daytime only operation.

You will have kitchen experience already, but full training will be offered. A Level 2 Health & Hygiene certificate is considered beneficial.

Working well under pressure is essential for this role, as are consistency, self-starting and organisational efficiency, as you will be working on your own initiative, with your own kitchen section to prepare and serve dishes from.

Customers to both our restaurant and café leave feeling refreshed and well fed with top quality produce after an exceptional dining experience in a beautiful setting.

As a daytime and seasonal operation, hours are typically 45/50 hours per week April – September.

Details of Iford Manor Kitchen café & restaurant:

April – September

  • Open Wednesday – Sunday & Bank Holidays

  • Café open 09:30 – 16:30

  • Restaurant serves lunch 11:45 – 15:00

This is a full-time seasonal role and would suit either a trainee, looking for their next step on the career ladder, or an experienced chef in search of a summer job.

The salary for this role will be £24,500 to £26,000 pro rata. We would like you to join  us from Mid-March to the end of September.
